Some organizers for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library -- a program that provides free books to children -- have seen an increase in signups since the singer died last month.

Now, a Lewiston and Clarkston nonprofit is fundraising to keep the local program healthy.

Twin County United Way sponsors the Imagination Library in Nez Perce and Asotin counties. It had 85 new registrations in the span of about two weeks after Parton died.

There are over 14-hundred children enrolled in the program between the two counties.

Sara Alder, a Lewiston mom, says her son Bjorn loved the monthly delivery.

ALDER: “And he would immediately grab it out of my hands and ask me to open it … he was so excited,  he literally couldn't wait to rip into the plastic to start reading the book.”
Twin County United Way is hoping to raise 60-thousand dollars to manage the recent influx of signups and plan for the future.
